What is archaeo.science?

Archaeo.Science is a data science platform dedicated to archaeology. We offer a range of services based on free, open-source software.

Our flagship service is a ShinyProxy instance at https://shiny.archaeo.science.

We offer this service voluntarily and free of charge. We have no obligation to deliver a specific result.

Who is running this platform?

These services are maintained by Archéosciences Bordeaux, a joint unit research of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Bordeaux Montaigne University.

This platform is hosted in France. Computing resources are provided by the French Digital Humanities Infrastructure (IR* Huma-Num) and IN2P3 Computing Center.

How long will this platform be maintained for?

Services may close (for example, due to a cut in research funding), or they may fall victim to intrusion.

We will maintain this service for as long as possible, but nothing lasts forever. This is the Internet, where technological time is not the same as biological time. As a result, we cannot give a definitive figure. However, we are committed to maintaining archaeo.science for as long as it remains viable for us.
